A trendy, friendly hostel, the London Bridge branch of St Christophers really delivers. Travellers can stay in a fresh and colourful dorm room for just 16.00 a night or grab a private room for £26.00. There`s also a stylish, modern internet cafe, a pub and a nightclub all included!

4.The Clink Hostel, Finsbury

The Clink used to be a court house and isn`t dissimilar to St Christophers. There is a slightly less cool bar and a gorgeous wood-panelled computer room. Dorms are £10 a night and private ensuite rooms are £60.

This 3 star hotel`s part of a chain called London Town Hotels (LTH). It`s bright, welcoming and modern. A compact double is just £98 per night with free breakfast and a four poster with breakfast costs £124.

9.Hotel Indigo, Paddington

Also part of the HTL group, this hotel offers a similar service and rates to the Quality Crowne but still deserves to make it on to the list.

10. London Marriot Marble Arch Park Lane

This 5 star hotel overlooks Hyde Park; perfect for a summer picnic. The 140 Park Lane Restaurant is acclaimed and a double room for two nights costs £259 per night for a standard suite or £309 a night for a guest room with executive lounge access.
